What We Confess
Providence OPC is committed to the whole counsel of God as revealed in Holy Scripture. We hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith as the clearest summary of Biblical doctrine, and we are members of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
We confess that there is but one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons are equal in being, power, and glory. We confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became truly man to save his people from their sins. Our fundamental Christian doctrines are confessed in the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.
We believe that the Scriptures alone are the rule of faith and practice. We further confess that Jesus Christ is the only head of his church. We believe the Bible clearly teaches that man is justified by faith alone through grace alone in Jesus Christ alone.
We subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. While we believe the Scriptures alone are inerrant and infallible, we believe these standards are the clearest exposition of what the Scriptures teach.
We subscribe to the Orthodox Presbyterian’s Book of Church Order which includes the Form of Government, the Book of Discipline, and the Directory for the Public Worship of God.
Our Confessional Standard
We subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms as the clearest exposition of what the Scriptures teach. These standards have guided Reformed churches for over 375 years.
"What is the chief end of man? Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever."
Westminster Shorter Catechism, Q. 1
The five foundational convictions that define Reformed, Protestant Christianity.
The Bible is the only authoritative rule of faith and practice.
Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man.
Justification is received through faith alone, not works.
Salvation is entirely by God’s grace, not human merit.
All glory belongs to God alone in salvation and all of life.
From Our Pastor
In an age when many question the relevance of the institutional church, Pastor Michael answers directly: the church is not optional for the Christian life. Hear why gathering together as the body of Christ is central to what we believe.
We meet every Sunday at 4455 30th Street East, Bradenton, FL 34203
